News from Hynish April 2026

Interviews for the new posts have been very successful and we are delighted to confirm two appointments. A warm welcome to Polly Robinson, our new Sustainability Development Officer, and Cat Storey, our new Heritage Protection Officer (photo). Their inductions will begin immediately, and they will be introducing themselves to the community over the coming weeks and months.

We were disappointed that the Hebridean Princess was unable to land on Monday 20 April due to unfavourable sea conditions, but we very much look forward to future sailings later in the summer.

There have also been some positive developments around Hynish. Hebridean Lane now has smart new doors—many thanks to Peter of P.H. Joinery for the excellent work. We are also pleased to be welcoming Tiree Breadhouse, which will be opening imminently in one of the old cowsheds.

The harbour ladders and mooring rings have now been delivered and installed by Coinneach, providing improved access to Hynish by sea.
