The Hynish Trust is delighted to announce that it has received funding through the Rural Tourism Infrastructure Fund (RTIF) to upgrade and make safe the historic Skerryvore Lighthouse Shore Station at Hynish.

The planned upgrades will help preserve this unique piece of maritime history and, with the guidance of local landscaping consultant Cameron Smith, redefine the way the site looks.

Improved access, parking and fixed interpretation boards will enhance the visitor experience, bringing more people to Hynish, and significantly increasing capacity.

It will allow the Hynish Trust to play a key role in the overall tourist offer in Tiree and help spread the footfall to the west of the island in a carbon-conscious and responsible way.
