Hynish put forward for Islands Programme Funding

Argyll & Bute Council have put the Hynish Trust forward for funding to assist with upgrading work on the Lighthouse Keepers’ Cottages, Upper Square.

The Scottish Government announced that Islands Programme funding of £5.3 million would become available for 2025/26 to fund capital projects on inhabited islands.

The Lighthouse Keepers’ Cottages are long-term leaseholds, being let to local families and keyworkers at an affordable rent. They are vital to the Tiree housing offer and have allowed residents who might otherwise have left the island to remain.

The fund is open to all local authorities in Scotland with inhabited islands, and the Hynish Trust is excited to receive news that Argyll & Bute Council are supporting this project.
