Interested in traditional building skills and helping to preserve Tiree’s built heritage?

The Hynish Trust is seeking expressions of interest from a local person interested in receiving hands-on training in stonemasonry maintenance and upkeep.

Training will be provided by Master Stonemason Andrew Bradley, who is currently undertaking the restoration of the historic Lighthouse Keeper Cottages at Upper Square. Training will commence over the coming months while work on the cottages continues, offering a unique opportunity to learn practical conservation and repair techniques in a live heritage restoration setting.

The successful candidate will gain valuable skills in the care and maintenance of traditional stone buildings, with the training programme intended to lead to an ongoing maintenance contract with the Hynish Trust.
