Update: Rural Tourism Infrastructure Project

Hynish Skerryvore Lighthouse Shore Station Assembly Platform

Cameron Smith and the Tiree team are now nearly finished this project.

We have 3 upgraded car parks – Alan Stevenson House, Lower Square and Upper Square with a lot more parking space which is just what was needed.

Fences, gates and a new cattle grid are in situ.

There is a new Trail across the site guiding people to the main points of interest.

A key feature of this is the Assembly Platform which is depictated in pink granite.  At the centre there is a cross signposting you to Skerryvore Lighthouse and the rest of the site.  In the middle of the cross is the small pink gravel that we found during the archaeological survey.

We have still to put up the interpretation boards around the Trail and site, fit ladders and rings to the harbour for access and install EV chargers in each car park. Otherwise we are nearly complete and on target for the end of March!

This project was funded by the Rural Tourism Infrastructure Fund (RTIF)
