Welcome to Polly and Cat!

A warm Hynish welcome to our two new members of staff, Cat and Polly, who are settling in nicely.

We’re delighted to have them both on the team. Do say hello if you see them around!

Polly – Sustainability Development Officer Polly brings a background in storytelling, environmental research, and community engagement, and has a strong personal connection to Tiree, having visited regularly for the past ten years. Alongside being a published writer and marine journalist, her experience includes heritage and visitor engagement with the National Trust, and traditional boatbuilding restorations. With a degree in Environmental Science, Polly is passionate about connecting people to place and supporting the sustainable future of Hynish.

Cat – Heritage Preservation Officer Originally from Newcastle and now based in Edinburgh, Cat will be back and forth between the mainland and Tiree over the coming months. She’s no stranger to the island – she’s spent many summers here over the years, and some of you may remember her working at the Lodge Hotel a few years back. Cat holds an MA in Heritage and Exhibition Design from Edinburgh Napier University, and a BA in Art and Design from the University of Leeds. Anything arts and heritage fascinates her, particularly when textiles are involved. She’s looking forward to working alongside the island community to help preserve Hynish’s unique heritage for generations to come.
