Are there toilets?

Yes, we have 2 toilets in the exhibition area in Morton Boyd Hall.  We ask for a donation to support the cleaning and maintenance of this facility.  They are open from April to October.

Is there a cafe?

Alan Stevenson House Inn offers meals, coffee/tea and there is a licensed bar.  This is located at the top of the harbour. Visit their website for opening times and menus.

Can you see the lighthouse?

Yes there is a viewpoint up at the Lighthouse Cottages in Upper Square.  Look for the information board and if it is a clear day you will see Skerryvore right ahead of you. Tyree Gin at West Hynish is also a lovely location to view the lighthouse and partake in tasty gin cocktails.

Can you visit the lighthouse?

No the public are not allowed on the site of the lighthouse.  You can however take a boat trip out to the reef and view the lighthouse.  It is well worth the trip.  It is a magnificent sight close up. 

Can I stay at Hynish? 

We no longer offer our properties for holiday lets but you can stay at Alan Stevenson House.  They offer accommodation. 

Can I go in the Signal Tower?

We cannot have open access to the Signal Tower at present but you can visit if you join one of our tours. 

Can I walk round the site

Yes we provide a leaflet with a map of the site showing the main points of interest.  These are in the exhibition foyer so please help yourself.  We do ask that you close all gates as you go round the site and remember we are located on a working croft so there will be sheep and cattle.

What else is there of interest?

There are some wonderful walks around the Hynish area and in particular Happy Valley.  Park up and explore!
